Cain at the big family reunion

Genesis 4:4: [4] And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

"Obviously he had information from God about what to do. You don't read it hear, but you'll read it when you get over to Moses," explains Richard Jordan.

Leviticus 1: [10] And if his offering be of the flocks, namely, of the sheep, or of the goats, for a burnt sacrifice; he shall bring it a male without blemish.

[11] And he shall kill it on the side of the altar northward before the LORD: and the priests, Aaron's sons, shall sprinkle his blood round about upon the altar.
[12] And he shall cut it into his pieces, with his head and his fat: and the priest shall lay them in order on the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar:

"Abel knew it needed to be a sheep. He knew it had to be that special one. In Numbers 18, Moses said when you bring one, you bring the first one.

"How did Abel get the fat? He knew he had to slay it. Leviticus 1 says you bring the blood. In verse 12 it says you cut it up. The fat's inside and you take the fat out and make a burnt offering. Abel knew what to bring and how to prepare it; he knew to cut it up and lay it at the altar.

"These guys knew some things about what God wanted. They weren't just guessing. So, when Cain doesn't do it and brings something else, there's a direct rejection of what God says: 'I'm going to do it MY way.'

"Now, in my mind, if by faith Abel does this that means he had information that he knew was from God. If I were him I wouldn't have trusted the information I got from my daddy. When Adam and Eve sinned they made britches out of fig leaves.

"Adam's a farmer. He goes out in the garden and he's producing; he makes his own garments for covering. That's what Cain followed.

"Abel saw God go over here and slay an animal and give shed blood. Abel said, 'God's way is going to be better than my daddy's way. My daddy tried to fix it on his own and it didn't work and God had to fix it.' So, Abel understands what God's doing.

"There's something special about Abel. On the other hand, Jesus identified the Pharisees and Cain was the first one.

Look what He says in Luke 11:[49] Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute:

[50] That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;
[51] From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias, which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation.

"That's like saying from Genesis to Revelation. Zechariah is in the last Hebrew book. Who did he say was the first prophet? Abel. Just like He told the Pharisees in Matthew 23:

[31] Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.
[32] Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.
[33] Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
[34] Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:

[35] That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.

"Something got started with Cain that's lasted all through human history. In fact, it will last all the way into the tribulation. Jude 11 talks about the way of Cain being in operation in connection with the church of the Antichrist.

"Something starts in Genesis with Cain that goes all the way through your Bible and when Cain killed Abel, he wasn't just killing his brother; he was killing God's spokesman.

"God had given some information to Adam's family--spoke to Adam's family through Abel. Abel's a prophet; he speaks for God. He's God's spokesman for his family.

"You understand that by the time Cain and Abel were old enough to do these things they had a bunch of brothers and sisters and there's a big family reunion going on.

Genesis 5: [3] And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:

[4] And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:

"Adam and Eve had sons and daughters after their own image. The population is growing. You don't know how old Cain and Abel were when they did this stuff in Genesis 4. The probability is they were 30 years old. That's when a priest entered into the priesthood. So, there was opportunity for a big family gathering to be going on there at that time."
