God's message for the earth

Isaiah 34 begins, [1] Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it.

[2] For the indignation of the LORD is upon all nations, and his fury upon all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter.

Notice there's the earth and the world? In that verse the world is something different than the planet. You ever hear anybody say, “Well, the Bible says ‘world without end,’ and then another verse says, ‘The world never will end.’ “

They act like the Bible can’t define its own terms and people get mad at God for using the same liberty with language that you use all the time.

In this passage it’s interesting. He makes a distinction, “Let the earth hear, and all that is therein.” The world and all the things that come forth of it.

Often in Scripture, God talks to the ground. He says, “Earth, earth, earth.” In Ezekiel 36 He says, “Go talk to the mountains. Go tell the trees. God’s got a message for His creation.”

That’s why in Romans 8 he calls it “the creature.” It’s a living creation. God looks at His creation, not as dead and inanimate, but as working together with Him in His plans and purposes; as a living thing. And He has a message for the earth and for the people working on the earth who have all these world systems in the earth.

Isaiah 34 continues, [3] Their slain also shall be cast out, and their stink shall come up out of their carcases, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.
[4] And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.
[5] For my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment.

He's not just going to shake the physical universe at His coming; He's going to shake the nations. Verse 4--that's Revelation 6:

[12] And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
[13] And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
[14] And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
[15] And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
[16] And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
[17] For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

He's going to take all that organizational structure He has in the heavens with the dominions, thrones and powers and the angelic host that fill those things. He's going to roll all that up, take the government out of their hands and all their host shall fall down as a leaf.

That's that stuff about the Advent coming down through Bozrah and Idumea down south of the Dead Sea. Lights that stuff on fire. All that passage is talking about the Second Advent.

Isaiah 24 is a passage talking about the great tribulation:

[18] And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake.
[19] The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.
[20] The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.
[21] And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.

There's a lot of stuff going around about the earth not moving and so forth. When they mean that it's not moving through space and that kind of stuff, there's not one time I've ever heard anybody talk about verses (about the earth being stable and not moving) who knew anything about what these verses talk about. The Lord's going to shake the earth. He's literally going to cause men's hearts to fail them for fear of what's coming.
