He said shake, rattle and roll

Nahum 1: [5] The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein.

[6] Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him.

"All this stuff about earthquakes that Jesus talks about and so forth; they're not talking about, you know, the little things we have around the world today--the shifting of the tectonic plates and that kind of stuff," explains Richard Jordan.

"I love the thing about Matthew 24 and Luke 21 when they talk about earthquakes in the Olivet discourse. People say, 'Oh, earthquakes, it must be a sign of the times. Jesus said when you see these things happen . . . ' They're not the sign of the end.

"This is a very special kind of a quaking. Haggai 2:6, which is quoted in Hebrews 12, says: [6] For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;

"When you shake the heavens and the earth and the sea and the dry land, that shaking is going to have an impact. Everybody's going to notice that and He's the one who shakes that.

Haggai 2: [21] Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens and the earth;

[22] And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.

"It's that stuff in Job 38 about shaking the wicked out of it: [13] That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?

"The earthquakes take place when Christ comes back to set up His kingdom.

"Jesus told them about it. Luke 21: [25] And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

[26] Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
[27] And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
[28] And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

"One of the things that happens in an earthquake is you get a tsunami in the sea. When He talks about the sea and the waves roaring, an earthquake's got everything sloshing back and forth like water in a bathtub.

"Isaiah 24 is a chapter about the coming of the kingdom and the effects it has on the land of Palestine:

[17] Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth.
[18] And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake.
[19] The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.
[20] The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.

"In other words, you can hide all you want to but you're not going to get away. Now, you imagine if the earth reels 'to and fro like a drunkard' that's kind of shaky.

Verse 21: [21] And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.

"This is in connection with Him coming to set up His kingdom and He comes through the heavens, shakes Satan and his host out of heaven and down to the earth, and He comes to earth and shakes the earth in His judgment and wrath.

"You walk around heavy-footed and you can shake the room. When He comes back to pour out vengeance it's going to be the whole house shaking.

Nahum 1:6: [6] Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him.

"He sets on fire the earth and it burns down to the lowest hell. Deuteronomy 32:

[22] For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.
[23] I will heap mischiefs upon them; I will spend mine arrows upon them.
[24] They shall be burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust.

"So, with these verses, No. 1, they're real, not just figurative, symbolic and apocalyptic. By the way, Nahum is the 34th book in the Bible. Isaiah 34 corresponds with the Book of Nahum.

Isaiah 34: [8] For it is the day of the LORD's vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion.

[9] And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch.
[10] It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.

"Literally that land is set on fire and it burns right down to the lowest hell, right there in Bozrah. Idumea is south of the Dead Sea where Sodom and Gomorrah were. That's where one of those passages goes right down into hell.

"The shaft that goes down into hell there is literally going to have the earth excavated out of it, melted out of it, and that pit's going to be open and they'll be able to see right down in there."
