The
ominous work-world future is displayed daily in news headlines across the
internet. A few from just the last 48 hours: “How the Robots Will Take Your Job
and Kill the Economy”; “Future of Job: The Battle Between Man and Machine”; “AI
to Blame for Hollowing out Careers.”
“The
robots are so eerie in that they look so human as they go about the tasks in
the production line that used to require 30 men,” said Jordan, referring to his
tour of a steel fabricating plant. “I thought, ‘Wow, that’s what God didn’t
want.'
"He didn’t want just a bunch of machines running His universe. He wanted people, creatures, to fill these positions. People who would willingly choose to love Him. He loved us so we would love Him. We love Him because He first loved us. There’s not another book in all the universe, there’s not another religion, faith, whatever you want to call it, that has a God like that.’

“Jeremiah
2:1 says, [1] Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
[2] Go and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; I remember thee, the kindness of thy youth, the love of thine espousals, when thou wentest after me in the wilderness, in a land that was not sown.
[2] Go and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; I remember thee, the kindness of thy youth, the love of thine espousals, when thou wentest after me in the wilderness, in a land that was not sown.
“When
He talks about ‘the love of thine espousals,’ to be a spouse, that’s to be
married. He said, ‘I remember back to the early days.’ He says, ‘You remember
when you fell in love with me in the wilderness and I courted you?’ This is the
passage in Revelation 2 at the church in Ephesus when he says, ‘You’ve
forgotten your first love.’ You see, God loved Israel, not because they were
many or mighty, but He set His love on them because they had a purpose He was
going to accomplish in them.
“They
were weak, insignificant and they weren’t the issue. It was His purpose with them
that was the issue. The love that He loved them with, Jeremiah 31:31-32 says, [31] Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a
new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
[32] Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
[32] Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
“That’s
a reference back there to chapter 2. He says, ‘Even though I loved them, and was
devoted to them as a loving spouse, and we entered into a covenant of
companionship, a marriage relationship, they broke the covenant.’
“On
the night before our Lord died, He goes into the Upper Room and John 13:1 says, [1] Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that
his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father,
having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.
“What
was in the mind of the Lord Jesus Christ at Calvary? Hebrews says, ‘[2] Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;
who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame,
and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.’
“For
the joy of that kingdom out there, for that everlasting love that He loved them
with so He could give them grace in the wilderness and bring them into that
kingdom . . .
“I John reminds the Little Flock that the Lord Jesus Christ came and
John says, ‘You want to see this everlasting love God has for you to get you
through that wilderness and carry you into the kingdom . . . are you wondering
about whether He really loves you or not or whether it’s all about the
judgment, the wrath, the destruction?’
“We’ve already learned
in James and Peter all about how they NEED to trust Him, they OUGHT to trust
Him, they SHOULD trust Him; that they CAN trust Him and now I John says, ‘Let me
remind you of WHY you trust Him. Because He LOVES you! You’re the OBJECT of His
love. The very day He gave birth to the nation, He gave birth to you so He
could love you and marry you and have you as His own. It’s been an everlasting
love and God’s manifested it and made it real in that He sent His Son into the
world so we might LIVE.’
“But
you the know the incarnation of Christ isn’t enough, even for Israel, and that’s
why verse 10 says, ‘Herein is love, not that we loved him, but that he loved us
and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.’
“It
isn’t enough that the Messiah just came. The Messiah had to come to be their Savior.
Verse 14 and on says, [14] And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the
Son to be the Saviour of the world.
[15] Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
[16] And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
[17] Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
[18] There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
[19] We love him, because he first loved us.
“John
says, ‘Remember what God’s doing with you, Israel. Remember who you are in the
plan and purpose of God. You’re the channel, you’re the instrument through whom
His love and His redemption and His blessing is destined to go to the whole
planet, to all the world.’
“Sometimes
we fail to remember that God’s purpose through Israel was not just so Israel
would be saved, but it was so that the WHOLE WORLD would be saved through
Israel.
“Salvation
going to the ends of the earth, and going to the nations and the Gentiles, was
never a secret; it was always God’s plan through Israel. What God’s doing
differently today is He’s sending salvation to the nations WITHOUT Israel. It’s
in spite of Israel’s obstinacy and refusal. And why’s He doing it? Why is He going
out in the world and saving Jews, Gentiles, bond or free, anybody who will
come?
“Why’s
He doing that today? Not so that salvation can cover the globe, as He will in
Israel’s program. But so that He can have an agency of people to take off of
the planet into the heavenly places and reign with Christ up there.
“And
if you don’t get that basic distinction of purpose, then you’re not going to
understand why there are literally two separate, distinct programs brought
about through the Crosswork of Christ.
“He’s a propitiation not just for Israel
and Israel’s program, but as Paul says in Romans 3:24-25, [24] Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption
that is in Christ Jesus:
[25] Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.
[25] Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.
“Why
did He satisfy the justice of God against your sin and mine? Not to make us a
part of reclaiming the earth, but to create an agency that’s going to be used
to reclaim the heavenly places. So, we understand why God’s doing what He’s
doing today and dealing with us differently than He deals with Israel.
“And, boy, if you want
something that will liberate you, try that on for size! Because it sets you
free from misunderstanding what God’s doing in our lives and sets you free to
understand what IS happening and how it can work in our lives for our glory.”
