In Mark 14 Christ is being interrogated by the high priest the night before He’s crucified: [60] And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?

[61] But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
[62] And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

Now, that’s two positions you’re going to see Him in. In Revelation 6, they look up there and say, “Hide us from Him that sits on the throne, sitting at the father’s right hand.”

Revelation 6: [15] And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
[16] And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
[17] For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

And then there’s “coming in the clouds of heaven,” which is Revelation 19. So they expect and anticipate to see two different kind of situations. They look up and there He sits and they know the day of His wrath is come, explains Richard Jordan.

The idea is these people see and understand that the pouring out of God’s wrath, the day of the Lord, is there, and what the Antichrist does is he seeks to convince the world that he is God. He’s the Lord Jesus Christ, the Savior, and the one who’s in the heavens out there is the devil.

You know, I don’t know how much you think about what you watch on TV or at the movies, but I remember many years ago when Star Wars first came out and I watched it at a drive-in theater with my family. If I had had dentures I would have needed PoliGrip to keep them in it was so shocking to me at the time to watch that thing.

What happens is the creative genius of unsaved men is satanically inspired and the devil’s system is to counterfeit a thing, and to plagiarize and copy a thing ahead of time so that by the time the real thing shows up, you’re going to think the real thing is the myth.

Do you know that when Columbus set out in 1492 to sail the ocean blue they told him, “If you go far enough out there you’ll fall off the end of the earth and the dragons will eat you,” and they’d point to Scriptures.

I mean, the people who told him that were the scientists of his day, and they were owned by the church of his day. The church is never to become the government and that’s what had happened in Columbus’ day.

The church ran the government and told it what to do, how to believe and act, and they said, “Don’t you know there are dragons out there in the sea,” and showed Columbus the verses back in Job and in the Psalms.

The problem is they misunderstood what sea that was. It wasn’t the Atlantic Ocean and it wasn’t a bunch of dragons like you and I think. That was a spiritual issue, but they told him, “See, those ships go out and we watch them sink, sink, sink away from view and they never come back.”

You know what Columbus did, though? He said, “Isaiah 40 says the earth is a sphere and I believe it’s round because God said so,” and he wrote a personal testimony to that fact.

Have you ever seen his journal? It’s fascinating to read it. Columbus had to go against all of the religious tradition of his day--all the scientific knowledge of his day--just on faith and the Word of God.

But as I tell you every now and then, the Bible’s so far ahead of science and tradition; you don’t have to worry when the Bible seems to contradict science.

The Bible’s always ahead of all that. I mean, you can go by the medical principles in the Old Testament and be 1,500 to 2,000 years ahead of the best medical science.

The thing is, you’ve got these Star Wars going on and you have the EVIL empire and Darth Vader and all that stuff. You watch that and you think, “Ah, somebody been reading their Bible.”

Then E.T. shows up and all of its own religious symbolism and it all winds up glorifying a system and makes you, when you study these things, be like, “No, no, no, preacher’s gone off his rocker.” That’s what’s going on here and there’s going to be tremendous amount of that going on.
