Reason #9: He controls the elements

Still working on article about singlehood and here's another outtake from sermon, "10 Reasons Why Jehovah is God":

Reason No. 9 why Jehovah is God: Jehovah in the Bible controls the elements of nature. The one who has the capacity to control the elements of nature is Jehovah.

Psalm 89: [8] O LORD God of hosts, who is a strong LORD like unto thee? or to thy faithfulness round about thee?
[9] Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them.

Do you know in Mark 4 and Luke 6 where Jesus Christ stands on the bow of that ship and He says to the raging billows, "Peace, be still." He's quoting that psalm right there. He's commanding the elements to do what the Scriptures say Jehovah has the authority to command them to do. You know who He's demonstrating Himself to be? He's the Jehovah that does this.

This is not an isolated thing. Psalm 107:28: [28] Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses.
[29] He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.

In Mathew 17, Peter looks out during the storm and sees Jesus walking on the water. He could make that water congeal under His feet and hold Him up because He was Jehovah God.

Not only can He control the elements of nature, He can command the creatures of nature. In Jonah 1:17: [17] Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

Jonah 2:10: [10] And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.

In other words, Jehovah not only created the fish, prepared it, had it go over there and gobble up Jonah and eat him up when they threw him out of the boat, but three days later He says, "Okay, go barf him up," and goes over to the beach and out comes Jonah.

Now, who's telling that fish what to do? Jehovah, the Lord, spake unto that fish: "Hey, fish, go spit him out!" and you know what the fish did? He went out and regurgitated the prophet of God out onto the beach. Why? Because Jehovah told him to.

The Lord Jesus Christ, in Luke 5: [4] Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.
[5] And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.
[6] And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.

Pete says, "Lord, we've been out here fishing all day. We know this territory and the fish aren't biting." Jesus said, "Just let your net down." Peter says, "Okay, I know who you are. At your word . . . " And Christ spoke the word and here come the fish and they fill up the net: "Come here boys; jump in."

You know how come He can do that? He can control, command the creatures. In Matthew 17, He tells Peter, "Go over here, let down a hook and the first fish you pull up, reach in his mouth because there's going to be a coin in it. Go pay your taxes." Wouldn't you like that on April 14th?

In John 21 they're out again fishing and He fills the net. How can He do that? Because He's Jehovah. He's the one back there in Jonah who speaks and they obey. Why? Because He can command the creatures.
