“Since the prize was announced March 13,
Palestinian officials have honored Ms. Hroub with festivals and honorary
degrees. International reporters have raced to her house and classroom,”
reports today’s New York Times. “Ms. Hroub said she was not political and would welcome her
practices being instituted in Israeli classrooms. Yet, one wall of her classroom has an
enormous map of the region that does not acknowledge Israel’s existence. As Ms.
Hroub took the children on an imagined drive through Jerusalem, they ‘toured’
Muslim and Christian sites, but she made no mention of Jewish ones . . .
“Itamar Marcus, whose Palestinian Media Watch chronicles
anti-Israel and anti-Semitic statements in the Arab news media and who has long
complained that Palestinian schools educate students to hate, said that even if
Ms. Hroub was an excellent teacher, the award would be seen by the Palestinian
Education Ministry ‘as a confirmation that what they are doing is O.K.’
“Mr. Marcus complained that 25 Palestinian schools were named
after militants who had killed Israelis or Jews, and that youth sporting
tournaments similarly honored so-called martyrs. He said that videos broadcast
on Palestinian television showing schoolchildren praising such attacks
suggested they were being taught to do so.”
*****As I wrote about last week, Israel is literally surrounded by nations of people who are, to one degree or another, their relatives and yet possess a “perpetual hatred,” as the Old Testament calls it, of the Jews that goes all the way back to Genesis.
Simply put, they are consumed with jealousy over the fact God selected Isaac, Jacob and the 12 tribes of Israel for His messianic seed line.
Zechariah 12:2-3 says, [2] Behold, I will
make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they
shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. 3] And in that day will I make Jerusalem a
burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be
cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against
it.
“There are two sieges against Jerusalem; one is their
immediate neighbors and the other is all the nations of the earth (chapter 14),”
explains Richard Jordan (shorewoodbiblechurch.org). “So they find themselves
surrounded immediately by people who don’t like them.*****
“Ezekiel 25:14-16 says, ‘And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom by the hand of my people Israel: and they shall do in Edom according to mine anger and according to my fury; and they shall know my vengeance, saith the Lord GOD.’ [15] Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because the Philistines have dealt by revenge, and have taken vengeance with a despiteful heart, to destroy it for the old hatred;
[16] Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will stretch out mine hand upon the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cherethims, and destroy the remnant of the sea coast.
[17] And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them.
“The Philistines are what we call Gaza and Hamas and all that
kind of business in that part of the world there. And by the way, all those
countries there are Islamic. The hatred Islam has for Israel comes out of this.
It’s a religious hatred.
“I find it very interesting that (in February) President Obama
chose to visit an Islamic mosque the F.B.I. is monitoring for terrorist
activity. You’d think he’d have picked one that was a little more Americanized
and a little more friendly toward us; not one of these radical places.
“Here you’ve got a liberal progressive Democrat who’s out
doing women’s rights stuff and homosexual rights and all kind of equality stuff
and he goes to a mosque that practices sexual apartheid. All that tells you is
none of these dudes running the government believe anything they say. They’re
all just a bunch of cheap opportunists.
“The fascinating thing to me is all these countries we’re
reading about in the Minor Prophets are all Islamic. As you go down through the
first seven verses of Obadiah, he explains what’s going to happen to Islam
because Islam has to be dealt with before a Jewish kingdom can be established.
“That’s one of the reasons, frankly, that the book of Obadiah
is so important. It’s so focused on the Edomites (today’s Palestinians) because
they’re the group that are going to be the catalyst through whom Islam itself
is dealt with by God.
*****
“One of the big controversies going on in England right now is
Islamists don’t want bacon or any kind of pork to be sold in the neighborhoods
where they live because it’s offensive to them and hence their attitude is it
must be wiped out.
“Why would Mohammed in the 7th century decide not
to eat pork? Because Moses told Israel they couldn’t.
“You know why you go into a Christian church and they’ve got
altars and incense? Because God told Israel through Moses to do that. Everybody
wants to be Israel.
“Go into the average evangelical church today and what do they
do? They tell you WE’RE Israel. ‘Spiritual Israel.’
“So everybody has a jealousy to get those blessings; those
covenant blessings God gave Abraham, but He only gave them to one nation, one
people.
“The whole point in Obadiah is that all those people using Edom
(Palestine) to try to accomplish the destruction of Israel are going to wind up
just like Edom’s going to wind up—utterly destroyed.”
