Seeing the end of Psalm 83 come to pass

From an article posted today by the magazine The Nation: "The one thing Fatima Mousa Mohammed (CUNY School of Law's controversial commencement speaker last week) didn’t say was whether or not she thinks Israel or a Jewish state shouldn’t exist, even though her logic led right up to the inescapable conclusion . . . She counts Israel among the 'oppressive institutions' to be taken down 'by any means necessary.' There is obviously legitimate criticism of the state of Israel and its current authoritarian government. But critics who oppose Israel’s very existence rarely state it so clearly, preferring instead to shroud their position in these word salads that have to be carefully parsed. If you don’t think Israel should exist, that’s fine. Just say it. The problem for many anti-Zionists on the left is that truly owning that position would complicate the narrative of oppressor versus oppressed."

Jeremiah 12 ends with, [16] And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, The LORD liveth; as they taught my people to swear by Baal; then shall they be built in the midst of my people.

[17] But if they will not obey, I will utterly pluck up and destroy that nation, saith the LORD.

"For the Arab nations that get it, God says, 'I'm going to resettle Israel in her land, and I'll put them back in their land.'

"God's solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict is about destroying 'the ancient hatred,' but how's He going to destroy it? 'If they will diligently learn.' If they'll say, 'The Lord liveth.'

"God says, 'As you taught Baal worship, if now you'll trust me, I'll put you back where you belong.' He's going to relocate them into the land of their ancestor.

"If you'll recall one of the reasons for the curses on the nations, in Joel 3 is one of the issues God has with the nations of the earth. Joel 3:2: [2] I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.

"God's covenant with Israel's very clear. Their land was not to be divided. When the United Nations comes along and parcels up that land, divides it up and deeds it off to other people, what are they doing? They're saying the Abrahamic Covenant doesn't matter. They're defying the God of creation.

"He says, 'When you quit doing that and you realize I am the God of creation . . .'

Zechariah 12: [1] The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him.

[2] Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.
[3] And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.

"When he describes the God that's being talked about there, He's the one who stretched forth the heavens. Look, why did He stretch forth the heavens? Isaiah 40: 'As a tent to dwell in.' What's He doing with laying the foundations of the earth? To put His temple here; put His throne here. Why did He create man? To go out and have dominion in the earth.

"He's talking about how the one who's got the plan for His creation is going to come back and execute it. All of that's in the back of your mind when you read these verses, and when the Gentiles go and divide the land and scatter His people, what are they doing? They're saying, 'We don't care what the Creator said.'

"You want to see the end of Psalm 83 come to pass, here it is. Isaiah 19:16-17: [16] In that day shall Egypt be like unto women: and it shall be afraid and fear because of the shaking of the hand of the LORD of hosts, which he shaketh over it.

[17] And the land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the LORD of hosts, which he hath determined against it.

"Here's the impact on the Egyptians of that victory in Psalm 83:

[18] In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of Canaan, and swear to the LORD of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction.

[19] In that day shall there be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to the LORD.
[20] And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he shall deliver them.

"You read that and you say, 'Woah! How's that come about? When did that happen?' That's what Psalm 83 said He wanted. Win the battle over these Arab nations, so that they do just that.

"That battle goes all the way down to Egypt, the Hagarenes, and winds up in the war down there--five of those Egyptian cities become territorial property of Israel and they're converted and do what Jeremiah 12 says.

"I love the verse, 'The kingdom shall be the Lord's.' That's sort of like a parting shot over the bough: 'I'm going to do what I said I'm going to do.'

"If you remember, God's foreign policy is very simple: 'Them that bless thee I'll bless; them that curse thee I'll curse.' There's an in-kind blessing and an in-kind curse based on the treatment of God's client nation; His favored nation."
