"If you look at the study notes from reference bibles, they will often say the leviathan is a crocodile or a whale or a dinosaur," explains Ohio Preacher David Reid.
"Job 41 begins, [1] Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down? [2] Canst thou put an hook into his nose? or bore his jaw through with a thorn?
"The whole chapter is about leviathan and verse 33 says, [33] Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear.
"If we just take those two verses, how do they affect the crocodile/whale/dinosaur theories? Well, the leviathan cannot be part of animal creation. Why do I say that? Verse 33 says the leviathan doesn't have any fear.
"Genesis 9:2 says, [2] And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.
"God put a fear of man into all of animal creation. In Genesis 1, both men and animals ate vegetarian diets; they did not eat other animals. But in Genesis 9, God changed the dietary plan and at that point man began to eat animals.
"Contemporaneously with that change, God put the fear of man into all these beasts. If the leviathan was made without fear it cannot be part of animal creation.
"That tells you the study notes don't make a lot of sense and they haven't paid attention to what Scripture plainly tells us. What the Leviathan really is is an incarnation of the devil.
"Isaiah 27:1: [1] In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.
"Leviathan is described as the piercing serpent. He's also called the crooked serpent and the dragon. Is there anyone else in Scripture you know of who's described as a serpent and a dragon?
"Revelation 12:9: [9] And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
"The leviathan is obviously a form that the devil takes. The fact that study notes can't figure this out tells you Satan has been effective in deceiving Christendom about his person.
"Looking at the holy cow, the calf worship, that was a situation where Satan had deceived people into paying reverence to cows as a form of reverence toward him.
"What we're seeing with the leviathan is sort of the reverse of that. Scripture tells us exactly who the leviathan is, but most people have no awareness of it; his identity has been concealed from them.
"Let's look at some attributes of leviathan. He is a king over all the children of pride. Job 41:15: [15] His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.
Verse 34: [34] He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.
"When you think about I Timothy 3, when it describes the qualifications of a bishop, it says, [6] Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
"Did the devil have a pride problem? Yes. The leviathan is fierce and extremely strong. Job 41:10: [10] None is so fierce that dare stir him up: who then is able to stand before me?
Verse 27: [27] He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood.
[28] The arrow cannot make him flee: slingstones are turned with him into stubble.[29] Darts are counted as stubble: he laugheth at the shaking of a spear.
[30] Sharp stones are under him: he spreadeth sharp pointed things upon the mire.
[31] He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment.
[32] He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary.
"The leviathan is so strong that iron to him is like straw. He's just that powerful. Verse 19: [19] Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out.
Verse 21: [21] His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.
"We saw earlier that the leviathan was described as a dragon and so it makes sense that he would breathe fire.
"The leviathan lives in the sea, he's fierce, he's incredibly strong, he has scales, he breathes fire and he's described as a king. What creature in modern culture resembles the leviathan?
"Godzilla is called king of the monsters. Wikipedia says 'Godzilla is a fictional monster originating from a series of Japanese films. Godzilla is an enormous, destructive, prehistoric sea monster awakened and empowered by nuclear radiation.'
"Prehistoric. Remember how Satan's called 'that old serpent'? Sea monster. Just like the leviathan that lives in the sea. Atomic breath is a lot like breathing fire.
"Is Godzilla evil? I took this from a magazine written about Godzilla: 'A point has to be made though, that as the Godzilla series progresses, Godzilla changes from being the destructor of Japan towards a volatile protector.' He turns into a good guy; a hero.
"Some other well-known dragons: Puff the Magic Dragon, Pete's Dragon. DragonTales. You see how the dragon's shown playing with little children and he's sort of harmless and friendly and cute?
"Who would want you to believe that dragons are just make-believe and harmless or even good? Just as with calf worship, where Satan's tricked people into worshipping him, what he's done with the leviathan is he tries to trick people into thinking, 'It's not real; that's just fake stuff, fantasy. That's just stories; dragons aren't real.'
"They are real and will be on the earth at certain points in time."
