“. . . Today there’s a great sense people have of being alienated,
separated, being ‘out here by myself’ in the world. It’s one of the reasons
people join gangs, cults, movements . . .
“One of things that motivates people is a desire to belong. To be
a part of something special. Ephesians 1:4 says, ‘According as he hath chosen
us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and
without blame before him in love.’
“I said many times that when you learn some things about 'right
division' and the grace of God it will change some things in your life. It will
probably change where you go to church.
"That’s a hard pill, though, and people just don’t like to
hear that. But there’s a religious system out there, folks, that the Bible
equates with ‘harlotry’ and ‘adultery,’ and being a part of it is considered
being spiritually unfaithful to God, just like it would be if you stepped out
on your marriage partner. That’s how serious a thing it is.

“Years ago, when I preached on the
street, I discovered a fascinating thing. When people debate, if somebody says
something and you answer them back, whether what you say is true, false, makes
sense or doesn’t make sense, people in the crowd will think, ‘Okay, he answered
it; now what do you say?’
“And if you say something back, then
they’ll look back at the other guy and say, ‘Okay, what do you say?’
“The crowd says, ‘Okay, he answered
it,’ but you say, ‘Wait a minute! That didn’t answer anything!’ But they don’t
get that and that’s what Satan’s doing. He understands that, ‘If I just throw
it out there, it doesn’t have to make sense; it doesn’t have to be true to what
the text says because nobody’s really going to examine and study the text
anyway, because if they did they’d find out the truth and I wouldn’t have my lie.’
